PORT HURON, Mich. – Customs and Border Protection officers seized $3.75 million worth of cocaine at the Blue Water Bridge early Wednesday morning (Aug. 28).
Just before 3:30 a.m., officers were inspecting vehicles entering into Canada when they selected Iqbal Singh Virk and Ranjit Singh Rowal for an inspection. The two Canadian residents were in a truck that was pulling a trailer.

Virk told investigators he had been a driver for about seven years and regularly crossed the border, sometimes weekly.
The truck and trailer were X-ray scanned, which reportedly revealed anomalies in the trailer. A K-9 alerted authorities to the possible presence of narcotics and a physical inspection of the trailer revealed a hidden compartment that contained multiple bricks of white powder.
A field test reportedly confirmed the powder was cocaine. Authorities said they seized 115 bricks of cocaine, weighing about 275 pounds and estimated to be valued at $3,750,000.
Authorities said they found cellophane that appeared to match the bundles and tools in the truck that they believe were used to open and close the hidden compartment.
CBP believes Virk and Rowal are involved in large-scale drug distribution activities and are pushing for the two to be charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
