Monroe County sheriff warns residents of phone scam

Monroe County police are warning its residents about a phone scam.

The scammers are making calls claiming to be a member of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and accuses the caller of missing their court date and a bench warrant was issued for their arrest with a $45,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office says they will never contact a citizen by phone, or through social media concerning a missed court date.

If you received a phone call and provided the caller with sensitive banking or personal information, file a report by calling the Monroe County Central Dispatch at 734-243-7070.
