Oakland County man accused of befriending parents to sexually assault their children

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 21-year-old man is facing felony charges after allegedly befriending parents with young boys, gaining their confidence, and using their trust to spend time alone with and sexually assault their children.

All known victims were known to Logan Sutherland, who was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Police said they were investigating a criminal sexual conduct complaint involving a 10-year-old boy who Sutherland had spent times with dozens of times. Authorities said they seized Sutherland’s phone and found images and videos of naked young boys.

Since the arrest, more allegations have come to light. Police said the four victims were assaulted at Sutherland’s Waterford Township home, ZapZone, Sportway, and SkyZone in Commerce Township.

While the known victims -- ages seven, 10, 11, and 13 -- all knew Sutherland, police said his phone contained multiple unidentified young boys.

Authorities believe there could be more victims. Anyone who has had children that may have been with Sutherland or know of children he spent time with is urged to contact the Waterford Police Department at 248-618-6122.

Sutherland was charged with four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of possession of child sexually abusive material. His bond was set at $100,000.
