Tigers to celebrate 1984 World Series champions at Comerica Park

DETROIT – Detroit Tigers fans are gearing up to commemorate one of the biggest moments in the team’s history.

The team is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1984 World Series Championship Saturday, Aug. 31 at Comerica Park.

The Tigers are set to take on the Boston Red Sox at 6:10 p.m. but gates are opening earlier than that.

Select members of the 1984 World Series Championship team will be signing autographs for fans who have purchased tickets for the event. There will be two sessions happening in the D Shop at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Autograph schedule:

  • 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. – Juan Berenger, Tom Brookens, John Grubb, Rusty Kuntz, Sid Monge, Randy O’Neal
  • 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. – Doug Bair, Doug Baker, Larry Herndon, Howard Johnson, Bill Scherrer, Milt Wilcox

If you have tickets to the game, fans are being asked to be in their seat by 5:30 p.m. so they can salute the 1984 World Series champions in a unique pre-game ceremony. That begins at approximately 5:40 p.m.

The first 15,000 fans to attend will receive a 1984 replica jersey.
