Romulus police say shots fired in parking lot after high school football game

Police say nobody was injured in shooting

ROMULUS, Mich. – Police are investigating after shots were fired after a high school football game in Romulus.

Police said shots were fired at 9:37 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, after a football game at Romulus Middle School. Several fights broke out as people were laving the game and officers heard gunshots from the west side of the parking lot.

Police said several people ranging in age from 13 to 17 fled the scene before they were located and taken into custody.

A handgun was recovered, and investigating officers found spent casings at the initial scene. Rounds had been discharged into the ground.

Nobody was injured in the shooting and police said there is no threat to the community. The investigation is ongoing.
