WARREN, Mich. – Police are investigating a shooting at a Warren park that left one person in critical condition.

Police said a man was shot at 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, in a parking lot at Veterans Memorial Park in Warren.

Witnesses told police that two people walked up to a white sedan, spoke to the people inside the sedan for a few moments, and appeared to get into an altercation. The two people were then seen running from the white sedan.

Someone inside the white sedan opened fire on the two people who were running away. One of the people running away was struck multiple times in the arm and lower extremities.

The white sedan left the scene and was last seen going northbound on Campbell Avenue. The man who was shot was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Police have not found the other person who was with the man who was shot. Investigators did locate a handgun, several spent shell casings, and other evidence of a shooting.

It is unknown how many people were inside the white sedan. Police do not believe it was a random shooting.
