Motorcyclist with chihuahua in jacket arrested in Northern Michigan for carrying gun

ALPENA COUNTY, Mich. – A traffic stop in Alpena County resulted in the seizure of a handgun on Saturday, Aug. 31.

According to authorities, a 56-year-old man from Tennessee was stopped by troopers for speeding on M-32 at about 2:30 p.m. Police said the motorcyclist said he was traveling to visit his girlfriend in Michigan and told the trooper he had his chihuahua tucked inside his jacket and a concealed handgun in his backpack.

Police said the man did not have a CPL and seized the .45 caliber pistol and lodged the man at the Alpena County Jail.

The chihuahua was not charged and is safe.
