Video: High-speed chase across Macomb County ends with 2 teens arrested

Third suspect remains at large

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A police chase involving a stolen Kia ended with two teens arrested in Utica early Wednesday, Sept. 4.

According to authorities, police were alerted to a stolen Kia that was traveling through Sterling Heights just after 3 a.m. Officers located it on Metropolitan Parkway, near Van Dyke Avenue.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the Kia reportedly sped off, leading to a high-speed pursuit through subdivisions. Authorities said the Kia traveled up to 100 mph, through red lights, into oncoming traffic and turned its headlights off in an effort to lose the police.

The chase ended when the Kia lost control as it turned onto Van Dyke Avenue and crashed into a building. Police said three people exited the vehicle and ran off in different directions. Two 16-year-olds were taken into custody, but a third got away on foot.

Police dashboard camera footage of the incident can be watched in the video player above.

Police said they are working to identify and arrest the third suspect.
