An iconic Michigan ice cream shop says it will end its six-decade run at the end of this summer.
Sherman’s Dairy Bar in South Haven announced the news on Tuesday, saying that after 66 seasons, they’ve decided to call it quits.

Their final day of service will be Oct. 26.
Hundreds of ice cream fans have been sharing memories in the comments of their Facebook page.
Mary wrote, “We lived just on the other side of the overpass not too far from Sherman’s. Way before all the businesses built up around it. It was still fields and farm country back in the 60’s and 70’s. My siblings and I would ride our bikes over for an ice cream treat often. I still take my family often even though I don’t live in South Haven anymore. I have such wonderful memories of Sherman’s Dairy!”
Kent wrote, “Sherman’s was the gold standard of ice cream. We made a tradition of saving coins during the year to cash in before visiting South Haven just to spend on ice cream at Sherman’s. Lots of family memories and great ice cream over the years and visits. Sherman’s will be missed!”
The Sherman’s story dates back to 1916, as a dairy and milk delivery business. Decades later, the family would put that dairy to new use -- ice cream.
