Oakland County traffic stop results in discovery of 55 pounds of cocaine

OAK PARK, Mich. – A traffic stop in Oak Park resulted in the discovery and seizure of 25 kilograms of cocaine.

According to authorities, a Ford F-150 was stopped by Southfield police on Sept. 4 on Greenfield Road in Oak Park. A K-9 reportedly alerted officers of the presence of drugs, which led to officers recovering a large black bag that was sitting in the back seat.

Inside the black bag were reportedly 25 kilogram bricks of a substance that tested positive as cocaine.

Police said they did not believe the roughly 55 pounds of cocaine were intended for personal use.

The driver, Michael Anthony Bennett, was taken into custody for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
