Road rage shooting on I-94 leads to attempted murder charge

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – A 37-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in a road rage shooting on I-94 that injured a man.

It happened in the early morning of Aug. 30. According to authorities, the situation started on I-94, near Eight Mile Road. Police said the suspect fired the first shot near Nine Mile Road and continued to follow the driver, pulled alongside him near Groesbeck Highway and fired multiple shots at the driver, striking him once.

Through the investigation, police managed to eventually locate the suspect’s vehicle parked near 12 Mile and Calahan roads in Roseville and identify the suspect.

Carlos Emanuel Hernandez-Acosta was taken into custody Thursday, Sept. 12, at his job and was transported to Macomb County Jail. A search warrant at his home reportedly led to the discovery of several guns, body armor and the suspect vehicle, which was covered and hidden in a garage.

Hernandez-Acosta was charged with assault with intent to murder, malicious destruction of property, tampering with evidence, reckless firearm use and two counts of felony firearm. His bond was set at $80,000.
