16-year-old charged in drug deal armed robbery at Warren park

WARREN, Mich. – A 16-year-old boy has been charged with multiple felonies in connection with an armed robbery and shooting in Warren.

It happened Aug. 31 in a parking lot outside Veterans Memorial Park. According to authorities, 18-year-old Robert Johnson and the 16-year-old boy set up a deal to buy drugs from 22-year-old Illya Green Jr. During the deal, the two teens reportedly produced handguns and stole the drugs from Green, who allegedly fired multiple shots at the teens.

The 16-year-old was struck and critically injured, but he is recovering. He was charged with armed robbery, felony firearm, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and carrying a concealed firearm. His bond was set at $500,000.

Johnson and Green were both charged Sept. 5 in connection with the incident.
