MILAN, Mich. – A corrections officer who worked at the federal prison in Milan has admitted to having sex with an inmate and smuggling contraband into the facility.
Cara Wozniak, 33, of Milan, is a former corrections officer at FCI Milan. She was charged in May after being accused of having sex with an inmate who was under her authority at the prison and providing contraband to an inmate from April through November of last year.
According to authorities, Wozniak pleaded guilty Thursday, Sept. 12, to one count of sexual contact with a ward and one count of providing contraband in prison.
Court documents claim she engaged in sexual intercourse with an inmate twice and then smuggled in pouches of loose tobacco for him to sell in the prison. She also reportedly purchased a gold necklace for him that she smuggled into the prison.
Wozniak will be sentenced Feb. 5.
