DETROIT – Police in Detroit have confirmed that the second victim of the shooting in Eastern Market over the weekend has died from their injuries.
Two people have now died, a man in his 40s and a man in his 20s. Further details regarding the victims have not been released.
The shooting took place at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at Shed 6 in the Eastern Market neighborhood. Police said two men got into a confrontation and one of them pulled out a gun and fired shots.
A man from Oak Park was arrested. It’s unknown if he knew the victims or what caused the fight.
Detroit Police Chief James White called the shooting “ridiculous” and “absolutely horrible.”
A candlelight vigil is expected to take place outside Shed 6 at 7 p.m., Monday.
Officials with Eastern Market said they are working with law enforcement to enhance public safety measures.
