State police officer to be taken off life support after I-75 crash

A Michigan State Police officer will be taken off life support after he was gravely injured in a crash on I-75.

Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officer Daniel Kerstetter had stopped on the shoulder of northbound I-75 around 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2024.

Eastern Market shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

One person was killed and another was injured during a shooting this weekend in Detroit’s Eastern Market.

The shooting took place around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at Shed 6 in the Eastern Market neighborhood.

Officers were in the area for traffic control and heard gunshots, so they quickly went to the scene.

Detroit police Chief James White said two men got into a confrontation and put their hands up to fight. One of them pulled out a gun and fired shots.

19-year-old assaulted because of religious background, says Ann Arbor police

Ann Arbor police are searching for the suspects accused of assaulting someone due to their religious background.

The assault happened near the intersection of Hill Street and S Forest Avenue—just blocks away from the University of Michigan campus—at 12:45 a.m. on Sept. 15.

The 19-year-old victim reported a group of unknown males approached him while he was walking and asked if he was Jewish. When the victim answered, the suspects then allegedly assaulted him and ran away. The victim reported the assault just after 12 p.m. on Sunday.
