MICHIGAN – We now know where the world’s best pizza is from, and here’s a hint: it’s not from Italy.
This week, the Italy-based 50 Top Pizza Awards came out with its 2024 world list. Despite the name of the award, the list included 101 of the best pizzerias worldwide. An iconic New York city restaurant came in top.

Una Pizza Napoletana was given first place this year. It’s located in New York’s Lower East Side. The pizzeria, owned by Anthony Mangieri, opened in March 2022. It was also ranked #1 on the same list in 2022.
Italy dominated the list with 41 pizzerias on the list overall. The U.S. got 15 places recognized. However, one important city was missing from the list: our own city of Detroit.
The same website ranked the Top Pizza Slices USA 2024 back in June. Palazzo di Pizza in Royal Oak was ranked at #6!
