Video: Suspected drug runner captured Downriver following police chase

Man tased while attempting to flee on foot

WYANDOTTE, Mich. – A traffic stop in Wyandotte ended in a police chase, an arrest and the discovery of narcotics.

The incident began at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. During a traffic stop, the officer ordered the man to exit the vehicle, but he speeds off. After a brief police chase, the driver loses control of the vehicle and crashes on Fort Street.

Bodycam footage captures the man attempting to run off, but the officer uses a taser on the suspect and takes him into custody.

Footage from police dashboard and body cameras of the incident can be watched in the video player above.

Police said they found heroin, crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine in the vehicle.

The driver reportedly has a long list of charges dating back to 2004, including drug possession, fleeing and eluding police, felony assault and more.
