Rayshawn Bryant, 40, and Welch were shot and killed on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at Shed 6 after the Detroit Lions game in Eastern Market at 4:30 p.m.

Officials say Welch and the shooter from Oak Park got into an argument when the 25-year-old man was shot and killed.

Friends and family of Bryant said he was trying to play peacemaker before he, too, was shot and killed.

A candlelight vigil was held in honor of Bryant inside Shed 6 Monday night where hundreds gathered to celebrate his life.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, but the Oak Park resident accused of the shooting has not been arrested as of Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024.

Due to the tragedy, Eastern Market has canceled its tailgating event for the Lions game on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2024.

The decision was made to pay respect to the two victims.
