Inkster police investigating shots fired incident

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – Inkster police are investigating a shots fired incident after they said an officer was almost hit by gunfire early Thursday morning.

Inkster police initially responded to the area of Klink Street between Pierce and Pine Streets in the early hours of Sept. 19 for reports of a shots fired incident. When they arrived, officers heard gunshots, with one round passing near an officer’s head.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to help search for the suspect.

As they continued investigating the incident, buses were arriving in the area. Inkster police said officers escorted school-aged children to their buses for their safety.

No injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing. It is unclear if a suspect was arrested.
