LANSING, Mich. – A Michigan woman screamed in excitement when she learned she was $1 million richer.

74-year-old Kristina Love, who usually plays Michigan Lottery’s Fantasy 5, decided to buy her winning Powerball ticket on a whim at the Family Fare at 905 East 8th Street in Traverse City. She matched the five white balls in the Aug. 24 drawing.

“Early the next morning, I checked my ticket and when I saw I won $1 million, I started screaming,” said Love. “My son ran in the room thinking something was wrong, until I said, ‘I just won $1 million!’ I must have looked the numbers over five more times after that to make sure I wasn’t mistaken.”

Love plans to buy a home with her winnings and share some with her family.
