DEARBORN, Mich. – The United Auto Workers have issued a strike notice at Ford’s River Rouge Tool & Die Unit over local agreement issues, including job security, wage parity, and work rules.
The Tool & Die Unit at Ford’s River Rouge Complex says it will strike on Thursday (Sept. 26) if local contract issues remain unresolved.
After For Motor Company failed to reach a local agreement with the UAW Local 600, Tool & Die Unit at the Rouge Complex, more than a year has passed since the contract deadline, causing UAW Vice President Chuck Browning to receive authorization from UAW President Shawn Fain to set a strike deadline for 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024.
UAW’s national contracts aren’t the only concern, as members negotiate local agreements around plant-specific issues at each facility.
