Jonas Meeks, 12, from Roseville, will lead The Pledge of Allegiance on the South Lawn of the White House.
The sixth-grader at Huron Park Elementary will be one of three 12-year-olds to present at the event that First Lady Jill Biden will host on Saturday (Sept. 21).

Biden will commemorate the grand opening of The People’s House: A White House Experience and a shared commitment to amplifying White House history before the experience officially opens to the public.
The event is located at 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue, just steps from the White House.
The new, immersive center created by The White House Historical Association will tell the story of the Executive Mansion, its inhabitants, and the people who have dedicated their careers to its functions like never before.
The Peoples House is a 33,000-square-foot, three-floor site that features exhibits and galleries that bring the White House and its storied history to life.
Meeks and the two other 12-year-old students, along with visitors, will have the chance to interact with a large-scale White House model, a recreation of the Rose Garden, a full-scale replica of the Oval Office, a recreation of White House moments, and more dimensional galleries combining immersive media and inventive scenic representations.
Starting Monday, Sept. 23, the People’s House will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
To gain entry, the public should reserve passes in advance to accommodate their entire party.
General admission is free, with a suggested donation to support the space’s mission-driven programs, exhibits, and educational outreach.
The People’s House offers a selection of field trip experiences for student learners or experiences geared towards corporate and adult groups.
The interactive exhibits and state-of-the-art classrooms provide opportunities to engage and inspire visitors of all ages.
