Redford Township Police Chief Jennifer Mansfield said there was an assault between two adults that led to a gun being drawn. One of the adults in the alleged assault was Christopher Delance Harris.

During the assault, a shot was fired, and it struck Harris’ 13-year-old stepdaughter.

Harris ran away from the scene but was later arrested by police two blocks away. Two guns were found during the arrest.

The teen was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg and is expected to be okay.

According to Chief Mansfield, the teen was not the intended target of the shooting, and the assault was not a domestic incident.

Redford Township police said Harris was arraigned on Sept. 20 in the 17th District Court on a 12-count felony warrant. His bond was set at $500,000, and he will be on a GPS tether.
