Detroit’s iconic statue marks 66th anniversary

The Spirit of Detroit is an iconic piece of the city.

Created to be a representation of hope and the “spirit of man,” the statue has become a nationally recognized landmark.

Similar to the RenCen, it’s featured in logos, websites, merchandise and more. Unlike the RenCen, the Spirit of Detroit is on the official logo for the city. Detroit is very careful with how the logo is used.

Health experts: No, you can’t overdose just by touching fentanyl

No, you’re not going to overdose by accidentally touching a small amount of fentanyl, according to health experts.

There is a common misconception that if you touch fentanyl either by coming across a white powder or touching an object with fentanyl on it that you’ll overdose. Health experts are working to make it clear that this is not true.

Warren Mott High School cancels classes following ripple effect of Homecoming incident

Students at Warren Mott High School are staying home on Monday after what happened during their Homecoming dance over the weekend.

During the Homecoming dance on Saturday, Sept. 21, students started calling 911 when they heard balloons popping. The high volume of calls resulted in a significant police response. Police found no evidence of an active threat at the school, but the building was evacuated.

When does early voting start for 2024 Michigan election?

The 2024 General Election is just around the corner, but Michigan residents won’t have to wait for November to cast their votes.

For the first time since the passing of Proposal 3 in 2020, Michigan voters will be able to vote in-person early in a General Election. Voters will also have the ability to submit their ballot via mail, for any reason.

Waking up to a fine mist in some locations. Not enough moisture to put on the windshield wipers, but just enough for it to be a nuisance during your morning commute.

Cooler on Monday as high pressure fills in across Lower Michigan, behind a cold front and low pressure system which continues to push east into Ontario. Temperatures will be seasonal this afternoon in the low 70s under mostly cloudy skies.
