Texas man visiting family in Michigan killed in crash

Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 56-year-old man from Texas was killed in a Washtenaw County crash.

It happened early Sunday, Sept. 22, near the Ford Road exit of westbound M-14 in Superior Township. According to authorities, the man was attempting to exit the freeway, drove into a ditch and struck multiple trees.

Michigan State Police troopers responding to the scene found the man dead in the passenger seat just after 4:30 a.m.

Police said the man was returning home to Austin, Texas after visiting family in Michigan. They do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
