The pursuit started just after 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 after Officer Alex Stathakis tried to stop the speeding vehicle. Police said the drivers of the stolen car have a long history of victimizing society on Alkali Street near 2nd Street.

The chase stretched across three cities before stopping on Macomb Street near Greektown.

Police said the suspects locked themselves in the vehicle, causing the officers to smash out the window to allow themselves inside.

The suspects arrested

Officials said the driver was a wanted fugitive who had six active warrants, and the passenger—a parole absconder—had been unsuccessfully released from prison for armed robbery.

According to police, the duo possessed a supply of crack cocaine, crystal meth and heroin.

The suspects’ identities were not released.
