WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An Oakland County woman is accused of leaving her 4-year-old daughter strapped in a stroller and her sister tied up in the backyard overnight, prosecutors said.
Police were called around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 21, 2024, to a home in Waterford Township.
When they arrived, police said they found a 32-year-old woman bound by duct tape in the backyard.
Officers went into the home and found a 4-year-old girl in a bedroom, strapped to a stroller, they said.
Brittany Indonesia Ivory, 31, of Waterford Township, was identified as the sister and caretaker of the 32-year-old and the mother of the child.
She is accused of tying her sister up with duct tape the previous night and leaving the home.
The 32-year-old and the girl were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Ivory was arrested and brought to the Oakland County Jail.
She is charged with:
- Second-degree child abuse -- a 10-year felony.
- Third-degree vulnerable adult abuse -- a two-year misdemeanor.
- Two counts of unlawful imprisonment -- each is a 15-year felony.
“Caretakers are entrusted to support and protect the safety of individuals in their care,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said. “To use your position of trust to abuse another individual, in this case, a child and a vulnerable adult, is abhorrent.”
Ivory was arraigned Tuesday at 51st District Court and given a $10,000 bond, cash/surety, no 10%.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Oct. 1.
