12-year-old boy dies after 20-foot tree falls in Howell

Survival flight helicopter flew him to Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor

HOWELL, Mich. – A 12-year-old boy has died after a 20-foot tall dead tree trunk fell on him in Howell.

The incident occurred on Thursday (Sept. 26) at 3:30 p.m. at the Howell Nature Center.

Officials say the area was remote in the back of the park.

The 12-year-old boy was transported on the ground to the Parker Middle School, where a survival flight helicopter flew him to Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor.
