Oktoberfest 2024 is taking place in Munich, Germany until October 6th. It started on September 21st and is a 17-day celebration. The festival is known for its carnival, dancing, food and of course, beer. Oktoberfest is held annually from mid-September to the first Sunday in October. In Munich, 2024 will be the 189th year of the festival.

Here in Michigan, there are still some ways to celebrate.
At Brown Iron Brewhouse, Oktoberfest is being celebrated until Sunday, which is the family day for the festival. At their Royal Oak location, family day will be from noon to 6pm. There will be a variety of activities like Stein coloring, bottle ring toss, bingo and the best-dressed concert. Additionally, there will be German food and beer available from now until Sunday at both their Washington Township and Royal Oaks locations.

The Dakota Inn Rathskeller in Detroit is celebrating Oktoberfest too. The kick-off was this past weekend, but the celebrations continue October 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th. According to their website, its Detroit’s only authentic German bar. They have imported German beer and food options. They will have live music from 7pm to 11pm.

In Macomb, the ELKtober festival is happening on October 5th. The event is at Macomb Elks Lodge 2292 from 4pm to 10pm. There will be games, food, entertainment, raffle baskets, and of course, beer. There’s also going to be the Mr. and Mrs. ELKtoberFest contest.
