Officials said they had a scout car in the area on an additional run when a ‘ShotSpotter’ alert said there were 13 shots fired in the area.

Police said they didn’t find anyone hurt, but they did find some shell castings.

While investigating the scene, another run came out describing the 5-year-old girl being shot in the leg and that she was transported to Henry Ford Hospital in Fairlane.

“The investigation at the hospital deemed that the little girl was shot over in this location,” said Detroit Police Department Deputy Chief Jacqueline Pritchett.

The girl has been listed in stable condition.

Officials said while they were at the scene in Plainview Avenue that a man showed up at the 6th Precinct also shot in the right shoulder, and the man said he was in the Plainview Avenue area as well.

“The girl was in a vehicle that was in motion when the shots were fired, and she was struck, and her family are the ones that conveyed her to the hospital,” Pritchett said.

Officers at the police station, the hospital, and Plainview Avenue are trying to determine what happened on Tuesday night.

“If anyone knows anything or has seen something, say something because we’re getting tired of coming to these scenes with these children shot,” Pritchett said. “People should be responsible gun owners and should be able to control their anger. This is an altercation from an argument, and it’s senseless, as these babies deserve better.”
