Detroit fire lieutenant answers your questions

A smoke alarm.

Local 4 is working to improve community safety during Fire Prevention Week, which kicks off Oct. 6 and runs through Oct. 12, 2024.

Of course, one of the primary steps for fire safety is to make sure you have working smoke alarms throughout the home. The National Fire Protection Association created a simple theme for this year: “Smoke alarms: make them work for you!”

The organization says its data shows having alarms that work can reduce the risk of dying in a fire by 54%.

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, the Detroit Fire Department’s Lt. William Terrell will appear on Local 4+ during the 7 a.m. hour to talk about Fire Prevention, with a big focus on smoke detectors.

If you have any questions about fire safety, please post them below in the comments. We’ll ask him some of the most common questions when he visits with Jason Colthorp and Rhonda Walker.

Tune in to see some of these questions answered.
