Warren man charged in Eastpointe hit-and-run that killed pedestrian

Driver stopped briefly before leaving scene of crash

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A 52-year-old man from Warren has been charged in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash in Eastpointe.

The crash happened on Sept. 25, 2024, in the area of northbound Gratiot Avenue near Chestnut Avenue in Eastpointe. Witnesses reported that a man was on the ground in the middle of Gratiot Avenue.

Police said when they arrived, they found a 30-year-old Roseville man dead on the pavement between the middle and right travel lanes. Investigation revealed that he was crossing Gratiot Avenue on foot when a silver four-door sedan struck him. The vehicle stopped only briefly before the driver left the scene heading northbound.

Authorities later identified the victim as Chritopher Pounce Jr.

Adib Mikha Estefo was arrested Friday, Sept. 27, and was charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death. His bond was set at $75,000 cash.

Estefo’s probable cause hearing is scheduled for Oct. 8.
