While students were heading to class, security officers saw a bulge in a 16-year-old’s waistband. It’s alleged the student refused to cooperate when he was asked to be checked with a metal detection wand.

When a security guard tried to get the handgun from the student, there was a struggle.

After a brief lockdown, the school went back into session.

Police are unsure why the student brought the gun to school.

The teen is in custody and will be placed in Macomb Juvenile Justice Center.
