Why 5 former U of M students face federal charges linked to Michigan military base

Five University of Michigan alumni were charged for allegedly taking photos of military vehicles and equipment at a base in Grayling, Michigan, and lying about their encounter with a soldier or being near anything military-related.

On Aug. 13, 2023, between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m., a group of five men were found at a boat launch on Bear Lake at Camp Grayling, a U.S. National Guard base in Michigan.

According to the affidavit, the encounter happened during one of the largest U.S. National Guard training exercises held in the United States, Northern Strike.

This Michigan haunted attraction ranks as the ‘scariest’ in the nation

A haunted attraction in Michigan has been named the “scariest” in the nation.

The Erebus Haunted Attraction in Pontiac, Michigan was ranked as the No. 1 attraction to “scare the crap out of you,” according to America Haunts.

America Haunts released a list of the top five haunted attractions for people looking for a scary experience “so intense it could lead to uncontrollable physical reactions.” They said visitors to haunted attractions on their list have been known to scream, cry, or lose control of their bodily functions.

3 arrested after deputy attacked during Shaquille O’Neal’s Livingston County visit

An event in Livingston County involving Shaquille O’Neal resulted in the arrest of three people.

On Friday, Sept. 27, O’Neal visited the Big Chicken in Hartland, located near the intersection of M-59 and Old 23. The restaurant chain was founded by the NBA star and is known for chicken sandwiches.

‘Winning cures everything’: Detroit Tigers celebrate series sweep of Astros as they prepare for ALDS

After sweeping the Houston Astros, the Detroit Tigers are moving on to the American League Divisional Series for the first time since 2014.

The Tigers had to rally Wednesday (Oct. 2) as they tied the Astros 2-2 before infielder Andy Ibáñez smacked a beautiful line-drive bases-clearing double to left field to cap off a four-run eighth inning to cap off the sweep in game two of their American League Wild Card Series.

Ibáñez said he felt blessed to be the catalyst in his team’s advancement to the ALDS.

Weather: More sunshine and above average temperatures for Metro Detroit into the end of the week

After lots of sunshine throughout the middle of the week and pleasant temperatures, we’re going to keep the trend of dry weather and above average temperatures around looking ahead throughout the end of the week.

Mostly sunny skies can be expected as we work throughout our Thursday, after a chilly start with most everybody into the 40s and lower 50s, we will warm up into the middle 70s by Thursday afternoon.
