DETROIT – Metro Detroit is buzzing after the Detroit Tigers advanced in the playoffs.
Fans are already gearing up for game one against the Guardians on Saturday (Oct.5) in Cleveland.
To say fans were ecstatic is an understatement. Tigers pride beamed throughout Comerica Park, especially on the jumbotron.
“It was really good,” said Shawn Hale. “A lot of fun. Great time to be in Detroit.”
Inside the Tin Roof, fans relived the Tigers’ sweep of the Astros, which advanced them to the second round of the playoffs.
“That game had me on the edge of my seat,” said Desiree Watt. “I’m not going to lie to you, but I’m glad they came through.”
While the team played away inside Minute Made Park, fans at a watch party held inside Comerica Park cheered as the Tigers advanced to play Cleveland in the ALDS.
The unexpected run by the cardiac cats was a long time coming, spanning decades and two ballparks.
“Forty years ago, I was parked on Michigan Avenue when they won,” said a fan. “It was amazing.”
Regarding Saturday’s game one in Cleveland, ticket prices range from $106 to $789 on the resell site Seat Geek.
Game three will be hosted back in Detroit, which has been starving for postseason baseball since 2014.
Fans are already working on a game plan for how they’ll be able to see the game.
“I’ll definitely be at least one of the games on Wednesday or Thursday,” said Scottie Vining. “So, go, Tigers.”
The Tigers are repping Detroit and the Old English D on the national stage.
Wednesday was a big moment for the team, especially for the fans who’ve remained diehards through the ups and downs.
