Michigan rescue crew shares experiences after returning home from North Carolina

Crew helped in aftermath of Hurricane Helene

Michigan Task Force One deployed a 19-member floodwater rescue team to help survivors of Hurricane Helene.

The crew returned to Michigan on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024. They spent time unloading equipment and sharing what they experienced during a very emotional and challenging seven days of search and rescue missions in North Carolina.

The team took part in 26 rescues, including the rescues of two Michigan natives and helicopter operations. They rescued residents who were originally from Michigan and moved to Florida. The two people had gone to North Carolina to get away from the hurricane.

The days were long, exhausting, and heartbreaking.
