A popular Metro Detroit brewery is planning to shut its doors after a final weekend of service.
Ascension Brewing, which has been open in Novi for nearly a decade, says Oct. 6 will be its last day in business.

“Despite our passion and dedication to bringing you the finest craft beers and food, the downturn in the beer industry and scaling challenges have not been favorable to us,” the brewery said in a statement posted to social media.
“We are immensely grateful for your support over the years. It’s been an unforgettable journey filled with great beers, good company, and countless memories. We couldn’t have done it without the hard work of our team and the loyalty of our customers.”
Others local brewers commented on the post, sharing their support. Batch Brewing in Detroit said, “What heartbreaking news. Much love to ya’ll for the great beers over the years.”
Urbanrest Brewing wrote, “Saddened to hear this news fam. Thank you for always being such great friends to us, and for all you’ve done for the industry. We appreciate you immensely.”
