A 16-year-old student was charged and arraigned for allegedly bringing a gun to Eastpointe High School.

Allegedly, the 16-year-old brought a gun to the school on Thursday (Oct. 3).

Officials say the teen resisted when officers attempted to disarm him.

The teen was charged with:

  • Count 1: Receiving and concealing a firearm, 10-year felony
  • Count 2: Carrying a concealed weapon, a five-year felony
  • Count 3: Assault with a dangerous weapon in a school zone, a four-year felony
  • Count 4: Felony firearm, a mandatory two-year felony
  • Count 5: Assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer, a two-year felony
  • Count 6: Assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer, a two-year felony
  • Count 7: Possessing a weapon in a school, a 93-day misdemeanor
  • Count 8: Assault, a 93-day misdemeanor

The 16-year-old was charged in the Macomb County Juvenile Court, where a mental health evaluation was ordered.

The bond was denied, and the teen was remanded to the Juvenile Justice Center. A pre-trial is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, at 1:30 p.m.
