Former Detroit Lions quarterback, assistant coach Greg Landry dies at 77

He played 11 seasons in Detroit from 1969 to 1978

Detroit Lions former quarterback Greg Landry has died at the age of 77.

The Lions announced Friday (Oct. 4) night with a photo on its official social media account.

The Lions selected Landry with the 11th overall pick in the 1968 NFL draft.

He played 11 seasons in Detroit from 1969 to 1978 and made the Pro Bowl in 1971.

He later joined the Lions coaching staff as a quarterbacks coach in 1995.

No word yet on the cause of death.
