2 injured after motorcycles crash into ditch in Monroe County

Speed and alcohol believed to be a factor

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – Two people were injured after crashing their motorcycles Saturday evening in Raisinville Township.

Michigan State Police said three motorcycles were traveling northbound on Steffas Road just before 8 p.m. on Oct. 5 when two motorcyclists didn’t turn on the curve near Heiss Road, causing them to crash into a ditch. The third motorcyclist stopped to help the two.

The first motorcyclist, a 43-year-old man from Carleton, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The second motorcyclist, a 34-year-old man from Southgate, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
