Experts are calling Hurricane Milton an “extremely serious threat” as the storm approaches Florida.
You can watch the live stream tracker of the storm below.
Milton is expected to make landfall on Florida’s west coast late Wednesday -- less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene.
As crews work to clear debris from Helene, Milton strengthened into a Category 5 hurricane on Monday night, thanks to sustained winds of up to 180 mph.
The hurricane was downgraded to Category 4 by Tuesday morning, with maximum sustained winds at 155 mph. Officials with the hurricane center said Milton is still a major threat to Florida.
The Gulf Coast is considered very vulnerable to storm surges, perhaps as high as 8-12 feet in the Tampa area. That’s nearly double what Floridians saw during Helene, hurricane center spokeswoman Maria Torres told the Associated Press.
Widespread flooding is also a possibility.
