When the Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, they found two men shot multiple times—20-year-old Sidney Ward III from Highland Park and 24-year-old Tyrone Davis Glenn Jr. from Pontiac. The suspect, a 32-year-old Detroit man, left the scene in an Uber before the deputies arrived. Ward died at the scene, and Glenn was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting stemmed from the Detroit man getting angry after losing $80 in a dice game.

The sheriff’s office learned, after investigating the scene, that the suspect used a potato to try to silence the gunshots. Witnesses called 911 at around 8:30 a.m., saying they heard the shots. Detectives found two semi-automatic handguns during their investigation.

After detectives searched at various locations, they found the Detroit man walking on 8 Mile Road carrying groceries and a case of beer. The suspect was then arrested on Oct. 9 just after 8 p.m. on 8 Mile Road and Evergreen Road in Southfield.
