2 lbs of cocaine, bombs discovered in Michigan drug bust

Search warrant executed in August

A drug bust in Benton Township resulted in the seizure of more than two pounds of cocaine. (WDIV)

BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An investigation into narcotics trafficking resulted in Michigan State Police seizing more than two pounds of cocaine and two homemade explosives.

The investigation was a joint operation between law enforcement in Michigan and Illinois.

According to authorities, a search warrant was executed on a home on Vista Lake Drive in Benton Township that resulted in the discovery of 925 grams of cocaine, drug-related paraphernalia, and two homemade improvised explosive devices.

Officers with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives safely disposed of the explosives.

Robert Dontrall Sharp Jr., a 46-year-old from Benton Township, was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to deliver cocaine, maintaining a drug house and two counts of possession with a dangerous weapon.

He was charged as a repeat offender.
