WHITEHALL, Mich. – A Michigan woman said she had a “random urge” to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket, and that led to her winning $500,000.

A 64-year-old Muskegon County woman bought a 777 Jackpot ticket at the McCormick gas station on White Lake Drive in Whitehall, which is about 15 miles northwest of Muskegon.

“It hadn’t played the lottery in awhile, but I had a random urge to purchase an instant ticket one day,” she said. “I scratched the ticket when I got home, and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I revealed a $500,000 prize. I told my husband the good news by showing him my winning ticket."

The woman visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. She said she plans to pay bills and save the rest of the money.

“Winning this prize will allow me to become debt free, and that is going to be a great feeling,” she said.
