CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An Oakland County man has been taken into custody after an attempted swatting in Canton Township.

According to authorities, police received a call in September from someone who said he had killed everyone in the house. Officers who responded to the scene quickly realized the call was an attempt at getting multiple first responders to rush to the scene.
Police said the investigation identified Devin O’Leary, a 34-year-old from Commerce Township, as the suspected caller. He was taken into custody and charged with filing a false report of a felony.
His bond was set at $50,000. If convicted, O’Leary faces the possibility of spending four years behind bars.
