Lincoln Park man killed in cement truck crash on NB I-275

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A cement truck driver was killed when his truck crashed in the northbound lanes of I-275 in Wayne County.

The crash happened at around 3:10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, in the northbound lanes of I-275 near Ann Arbor Road in Plymouth. The driver has been identified as a 59-year-old man from Lincoln Park.

Police said the 59-year-old driver could not stop in time and struck the back of a box truck. The force of the crash pushed the box truck into a semi truck. The crash spilled concrete,tar, and diesel fuel across all lanes of the freeway.

The fire department removed the 59-year-old driver from the truck. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver’s family was notified.

No other injuries were reported.

The freeway reopened at 12:05 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.
