“In light of Aidan’s injury last night, we want to thank you all for the outpouring of love and well wishes. Your support through this shocking situation means so much to our family.

We are blessed to share that Aidan’s surgery was a success. Thank you to the doctors and nurses who have taken such good care of him.

Aidan wants you all to know that his healing redemption story has begun. He is holding the motto of Detroit close to heart: resurget cineribus. He will rise from the ashes.”

The former Michigan Wolverines standout broke his tibia in the third quarter, with the Lions blowing out the Cowboys, 34-6 during a sack on quarterback Dak Prescott. After the sack, Hutchinson pulled off his gloves and yelled “I broke it.”

Instant replay showed the awful looking injury to his left leg, which caused trainers to bring out an air cast and took him off the field on a cart.

Hutchinson is the most important player on the roster, and season ending injury is a crushing blow to the Lions’ Super Bowl hopes, as the league leading sacks leader (7.5 sacks) was on the verge of a defensive player of the year.

The Lions provided an update Monday morning, saying Hutchinson had successful surgery for a broken tibia and fibula. They said he is expected to make a full recovery, but there is no timeline for his return.

“Aidan Hutchinson underwent successful surgery to repair a fractured tibia and fibula at Baylor White Medical Center in Irving, Texas last night. Hutchinson will return to Detroit this week and is expected to make a full recovery. There is no timeline for his return to play at this time.”
