23-year-old woman charged in double fatal car crash following high-speed chase in Hamtramck

Woman was charged with two counts of fleeing and eluding a police officer

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Aaliyah Daz Jhanay Renee Glenn, 23, of Detroit, in connection with a police chase that resulted in a car crash that killed MD Sujon Miah, 37, of Sterling Heights, and another person as yet unidentified.

The incident occurred on Oct. 10, 2024, at approximately 12:51 p.m. when Hamtramck police officers conducted a traffic stop on Glenn’s vehicle at a gas station in the 9200 block of Conant.

Allegedly, Glenn fled from officers at a high rate of speed, disregarded a traffic light, and drove through the intersection of Conant and East McNichols Road in Detroit, where she crashed into Miah’s vehicle.

Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced Miah deceased. The unidentified victim, John Doe, was transported to a Metro Detroit hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased later the same day.

Glenn has been charged with two counts of fleeing and eluding a police officer, two counts of reckless driving, two counts of driving while license suspended, revoked, or denied – causing death, and two counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer causing injury.

The 23-year-old was arraigned on Oct. 13, 2024, in 36th District Court and given a $500,000 personal bond with a GPS tether and house arrest. She was also ordered not to drive.

The probable cause conference is scheduled for Oct. 21, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., and the preliminary examination is scheduled for Oct. 28, 2024, at 8:45 a.m.
