ROMULUS, Mich. – Delta Air Lines is redesigning the interior of its planes with a modern look, including new seats, better lighting, and more.
The new cabin interior is set to debut this fall ahead of the airline’s 100-year anniversary.
Delta officials said the redesign includes breathable materials, memory foam cushions, better lighting, updated colors, and new decorative branding.
“Every aspect of the cabin interior has been carefully planned and thoughtfully redesigned to elevate the travel experience,” the company said in a release.
A primary goal of the redesign is to “make Delta customers feel at home during their travels.”

Timeline
The new design will debut on a narrowbody Boeing 757 for domestic and short-haul international flights later this fall, Delta announced.
The widebody Airbus A350 redesign will roll out in early 2025 for long-haul international flights, the company said.
Other planes will get the new design as the airline’s schedule allows over the next few years.
“Delta has a 100-year history of creating a customer experience that feels welcoming and thoughtful, with intentional design elements woven into every aspect of a customer’s travel,” said Mauricio Parise, vice president of customer experience design. “As we embark on our next century of flying, this refreshed cabin interior infuses utility with beauty to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, elevated, and timeless while reflecting our customers’ evolving tastes and expectations.”
Delta plans to update its entire fleet with the new design.
“This nose-to-tail transformation of our cabin interior is based on extensive feedback and research to create a cabin experience that reflects our customers’ changing expectations and lifestyles," the release says.
Seats
Customers sitting in Delta Comfort+ or the main cabin will have seats made from engineered leather. On widebody planes, the seats will have memory foam cushions.
All seats have an updated color scheme with stitching and accent stripes.
For Delta Premium Select and first class flyers, there are new seat covers over memory foam cushions and “breathable engineered leather.”
Delta One customers will have new fabric seats made of wool and nylon. The airline said it’s lighter and better at regulating temperature.
The Delta One headrest is made from engineered leather.
Lighting
Delta said the new lighting onboard is designed to create a “cohesive and calming” environment.
Mood lighting is set up to compliment flight phases.
“Every flight is different, so we’ve focused on creating warm, calming, and atmospheric lighting options that create an environment for customers to rest and relax, or stay productive, as they wish,” Parise said. “For boarding, we’ve focused on the ‘moment of deceleration’: warm and inviting lighting that makes the cabin appear spacious and open.
“At mealtimes, we queue hues that feel like you’re at a candlelit dinner, making meals more natural and inviting.
“As the lights dim for sleep, we borrow from the sunset and slowly remove blue light while bringing in warm amber tones, which are reminiscent of a sunset glow.
“When it’s time to wake up, the cabin slowly brightens into morning and daylight."
Colors and design
Delta’s new color scheme is described as a “softer, warmer, more modern” palette.
“Customers will feel more at home thanks to unique touches throughout the cabin, including thoughtful choices of materials at customer touch-points, as well as Delta widget logos and seat tags that create subtle distinctions between cabins,” the release says.
Branded cabin identifiers for Delta One and Delta Premium Select are included on all widebody planes.
“Delta has taken the time to develop every detail of our new interiors,” Parise said. “The team was intentional in creating an experience that mimics our customers’ lifestyles and puts them at ease as soon as they board our aircraft. We look forward to sharing our hard work with our customers and welcoming them onboard.”
Bathrooms
The bathrooms on Delta planes will be brighter and include an accent wall with a Celestial Sky pattern opposite the mirror, the airline announced.
Cabinets will be Azure Blue. The floor will be smooth, with specks of color.
