Inmate admits to bribing correction officer in Milan who snuck in tobacco, gold chain

Faces up to 15 years in jail

MILAN, Mich. – An inmate pleaded guilty to offering bribes to a corrections officer at a federal correctional facility in Milan.

According to authorities, 28-year-old Robert Bibbs admitted to becoming close with a corrections officer between April 2023 and November 2023 while he was an inmate. He reportedly asked her to purchase loose loose tobacco for him to sell in the prison. She also reportedly purchased a gold necklace for him that she smuggled into the prison.

Bibbs reportedly admitted to offering to pay the woman to smuggle contraband into the prison for him.

Bibbs will be sentenced Jan. 13. He faces a possibility of 15 years behind bars.
